Trivia[]
- WcDonald's is a fast food restaurant chain used in many different anime and is based on the real-life McDonald's. The name is used to avoid the McDonald's trademark. The various anime that feature WcDonald's have no connection. WcDonald's has featured in Rumiko Takahashi's earlier work, Inuyasha.
- Some of the youkai lining up to be treated by Mao may represent: (1) Rokurokubi - long-necked woman; (2) Hitotsume-kozou - one-eyed person, although usually a child; (3) Imori - gecko youkai; (4) Kyuuso - rodent youkai. Also, the toad youkai resembles Tsukumo no Gama, a minor character in Inuyasha.
- The offerings table in Shouko's shrine is set up like a Shinto kamidana, a household altar: (1) Two sakakitate, to hold the evergreen sakaki branches; (2) Two heiji bottles for purified sake; (3) Two kawarake for salt / uncooked rice; (4) One mizutama for water; (5) One shinkyou - sacred mirror. The three stands with offerings at the back are called sanpo. To the left are three sake barrels festooned with shide (zigzag paper), as well as two rice straw barrels.
- Despite this, the priests wear Buddhist-style headwear, and later on we see a priest holding a Buddhist shakujou.
